This guide provides the resources for Owners of a Soundtrap EDU account to successfully establish a working framework to implement Soundtrap in a Classroom, School or District. This guide will review some of the best practices for starting out as a new owner on the account and if you are a returning owner on the account, this guide can serve as a refresher.
Before getting started, please follow the steps in this article: Technical requirements for Soundtrap for Education to ensure that all users have the best experience with Soundtrap.

Roles and permission settings
Soundtrap for Education has three defaulted role types: Owner, Teacher, and student. As the Owner of an EDU account, you have the ability to customize the roles in Soundtrap. You can learn more about how to set permissions here and how to change a user’s role here. If you want to create custom roles, reach out to Soundtrap support.
Provisioning and Integration methods (user account creation)
The Owner of the account should choose one of the methods below to ensure a smooth integration process. Users will be using this method as an authentication and login method as well.
Learning Management System (LMS) integration options (available for the District plan):
Canvas (Also available for the School plan)
Schoology (Also available for the School plan)
Google OU sync
ClassLink
Skolon
Other Options (available for Classroom, School and District plan):
Other provisioning options
Canvas: The Soundtrap app can be integrated on the organization-level or on a course-level within Canvas.
NOTE:
• If integrating on an organization-level, please reach out to your Canvas administrator to enable the integration.
• If integrating on a course-level, teachers will need to install Soundtrap to their specific courses. Once installation is successfully completed, the Soundtrap app will be visible on the left hand side of the Canvas course menu.
Schoology: The Soundtrap app can be integrated on the organization-level or on a course-level within Schoology.
NOTE:
• If integrating on an organization-level, please consult with your Schoology System Administrator or Schoology Support contact to enable the integration.
• If integrating on a course-level, teachers will need to install Soundtrap to their specific courses. Teachers can sync their Schoology courses over to Soundtrap which will create Soundtrap Groups. Once installation is successfully completed, the Soundtrap app will be visible on the left hand side of the Schoology course menu.
Google OU sync: Consider this option if your District is a Google integrated District and you will be provisioning thousands of user accounts. Work with your Soundtrap representative to discuss this option.

Login methods
After you’ve confirmed the provisioning and integration method suitable for your subscription plan, the next step is for your users to log into their Soundtrap accounts.
- LMS integrated (Schoology, Clever, Canvas, Google OU sync, Classlink, Skolon): In all cases except for Google OU sync and Classlink, Students and Teachers should always log into their LMS account first. Once logged into the LMS, the user will see the Soundtrap app located in their course's menu. Click on the Soundtrap app and a Soundtrap-LMS connected account will be created for the user and will be given a Soundtrap seat. Users should not go to our website to sign in, if the school is integrated with a LMS (only for Google OU sync and Classlink).
- Non-LMS integrated: Users can go to our website and click “Log In”. A popup will appear and the user will have the option to sign in. Be sure to use the school email address when choosing to sign in using Google SSO or Microsoft SSO.
User Management and Seat Count
Please ensure that your EDU account has enough seats available. If you'd like to shuffle some seats around, you can manually reassign seats. For any changes in bulk, please reach out to our support team.
