Getting started in Soundtrap for students

This guide will provide students with the necessary resources to get started in their Soundtrap account.

How to log into my Soundtrap account

There are different methods to log into a Soundtrap account and you as a student should receive confirmation from your Teacher on which method you should use. Below you will find instructions on different ways to login: 

If your School or Teacher does not use a LMS (Canvas, MusicFirst Classroom or Schoology) please go directly to soundtrap.com/edu > Click “Log in” in the top right corner.

• If your account is connected to Google via Google Classroom or Google sync you should log in by clicking the Log in with Google button: 

• If your account is connected to Microsoft teams you should log in by clicking the Microsoft School Account button: 

• If your school does not use Google SSO or Microsoft SSO, you can log into your Soundtrap account manually by Log in with email and password: 
  

(If you can't remember your password you can click the “Forgot Password” link and reset your Soundtrap password. If you experience any technical issues logging in, please notify your Teacher.)

LMS integrated account: If your School or Teacher uses a LMS integration with Soundtrap (Canvas, MusicFirst Classroom, or Schoology), please always make sure to log into your LMS account first in order to access Soundtrap.

1. Log into your LMS (Canvas, MusicFirst Classroom, Schoology)
2. Go to your course and you should see the Soundtrap app listed.
3. Click on the Soundtrap app that you see in your course and you will successfully create your Soundtrap account via the LMS integration. 

How to join my Teacher’s Soundtrap group

In order to collaborate with your Teacher or peers on a project, you must be in the same Soundtrap group. In most cases, your Teacher or Soundtrap administrator will already have added you to a few groups. However, if you need to manually join your Teacher’s Soundtrap group, your Teacher will need to provide you with an activated group code. If you do not have a group code, please reach out to your Teacher. Follow the steps below to join your teacher’s Soundtrap group:

1. Log into your Soundtrap account.
2. Click on Groups.
3. Click Join Group and enter the group code you received from your Teacher.
4. You will see a preview of the group you are about to join. Click Join Group to confirm.

How to view my Teacher’s Soundtrap assignment and make an assignment submission

In order to view your Teacher’s Soundtrap assignment, please ensure that you’ve already created a Soundtrap account and have successfully logged into your Soundtrap account at least once. Your Teacher may post a Soundtrap assignment link in your LMS course or may provide you with a direct link to the assignment. Be sure to log into your Soundtrap account using the correct login flow. Once you click on the assignment link, a student copy of the assignment will be generated and your Teacher will automatically be listed as a collaborator on the project.

How to download and keep my projects

You can download your projects at any time. It is best practice to download projects before the end of the school year or before the end of the grading period.
