Soundtrap supports automatic rostering with ClassLink Roster Server/OneRoster API and in this guide we will look at how to set up rostering to Soundtrap, what the daily sync does and how Teachers and students access their Soundtrap accounts!

Requirements
Before we start, the following requirements needs to be met in order to set up and use this integration:
- Your district use Google Single Sign-on or Microsoft Authentication
- Email Addresses in Classlink needs to match the email addresses in Google Workspace
- OneRoster is the single method of rostering
Set up the roster server application
1. Log in as a Classlink Administrator to https://launchpad.classlink.com/DISTRICTNAME
2. Go to Classlink Roster Server > Login
3. Click on Apps
4. click +add
5. Search for Soundtrap and click +Add
6. Set up permissions by selecting from the three types: Rule-Based, Full, and Legacy Custom. For more information, read Classlinks article on Adding Applications & Modifying Permissions
We require the following data to be shared:
- Roles
- Classes
- Enrollment
- Email address
7. Finally, Go back to your added apps and make sure that the app is toggled to
Once all above steps are done, Soundtrap will be notified that you've enabled data sharing. It may take us a day or so to complete the set up and a Soundtrap rep will let you know when the rostering is fully set up!
The daily sync
The sync of data will run once a day at around 9am CET and will:
- Create user accounts (from active users in Classlink)
- Assign roles (from teacher, student and admin roles in Classlink)
- Create groups (from Classes in Classlink)
- Update group membership (from enrolment in Classlink)
- Unseat users (from inactive users in Classlink)
How teacher and students access Soundtrap
When the integration is set up by the Classlink Administrator, teachers and students will be able to access their Soundtrap account by following these steps:
1. Go to Soundtrap.com
2. Click on Log in (top-right corner)
3. Select Log in with Google or Microsoft and enter your school email address. (The login page can look like either of the pictures below)
Google Workspace third-party app access
Before teachers and students can login via Google SSO you will need to make sure that Soundtrap is approved in Google Console first. Please read Google's guide: Control which third-party & internal apps access Google Workspace data
