Rostering and SSO with Skolon

Soundtrap supports automatic rostering with Skolon via OneRoster API and in this guide we will look at how to set up rostering, what the daily sync does and how Teachers and students access their Soundtrap accounts!

Requirements

Before we start, the following requirements needs to be met in order to set up and use this integration:

• Your district is a Skolon customer 
• You are a new Soundtrap customer (migration support will be added in 2025)
• Skolon will be the single method of rostering (you cannot add users in Soundtrap directly)

Activate rostering and assigning SSO licenses for Soundtrap in Skolon 

After submitting your Soundtrap for Education order you will receive an email from Soundtrap when your account has been set up. It will include the following instructions:

1. Allocate licenses to Soundtrap in Skolon. Here is how you do that.
2. Send an email to skolonSSO@soundtrap.com for sync activation. Make sure to add contact details for the Skolon administrator that setup the licenses along with the School name.
   
   NOTE: If you are unsure on how to share correct data, please reach out to your Skolon account manager or to Skolon support and you’ll get connected to someone who can help you!
   
3. You will receive a response when the sync is successfully setup. 
4. The day after the sync has been successfully set up, students and teachers will be able to access Soundtrap via SSO in Skolon portal

The daily sync

The sync of data will run once a day at around 9am CET and will:

• Create user accounts (from active users in Skolon)
• Assign roles (from teacher, student and admin roles in Skolon)
• Create groups (from Classes in Skolon)
• Update group membership (from enrolment in Skolon)
• Unseat users (from inactive users in Skolon)

How teacher and students access Soundtrap from Skolon

When the integration is set up by the Skolon Administrator, Teachers and students will be able to access their Soundtrap account from the Skolon portal.
