Why Accessibility Matters
Accessibility is fundamental to creating products that empower people to create, collaborate, and express themselves. At Soundtrap, we believe creativity should not be limited by barriers in the way technology is designed. We are committed to continuously improving the accessibility of our products and to designing experiences that support a wide range of needs, preferences, and ways of working. Accessible experiences help us create products that are more flexible, intuitive, and adaptable, while supporting our efforts to meet applicable accessibility standards and legal requirements.
Every user has their own way of creating, collaborating, and interacting with Soundtrap. Some use screen readers or keyboard navigation, while others benefit from captions, clear visual hierarchy, predictable interactions, or adaptable experiences. Similar needs may arise from disability, age, language, temporary impairments, individual workflows, or the environment in which someone is creating. By designing for this diversity from the outset, we create experiences that are more usable, resilient, and welcoming for everyone.
Our accessibility guidelines provide a shared framework for designing, building, and testing accessible experiences across Soundtrap. They help us meet established accessibility standards, identify and address accessibility issues early, and ensure accessibility is considered throughout the product development lifecycle.
By embedding accessibility into the way we design and build Soundtrap, we help ensure that more people can participate in the creative process and bring their ideas to life.
How we ensure accessibility
Accessibility is integrated into our product development process through clear standards, training, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Accessibility standards: We define and maintain internal accessibility standards based on established guidelines and regularly update them as best practices evolve.
- Training and awareness: We offer internal training on assistive technology and accessibility best practices to teams across Soundtrap, including designers, engineers, product managers, marketing, and sales. We also share user feedback and stories to keep accessibility at the center of our decisions.
- Accessibility support: Our dedicated accessibility team supports teams through weekly accessibility open hours, workshops, and targeted audits. Accessibility is a shared responsibility across the teams that design, build, and support Soundtrap.
- Accessible component library: We maintain a library of reusable components that are built with accessibility in mind and aligned with WCAG standards.
- QA: We evaluate features through a combination of automated and manual accessibility testing before release.
- External validation: We conduct regular third-party accessibility audits of our core features to identify opportunities for improvement.
- User feedback: We continuously listen to our users and use their feedback to improve accessibility. You can get in touch through accessibility@soundtrap.com.
