FAQs
What types of plugins can I use in Soundtrap?
Soundtrap supports VST3 and Audio Unit (AU) effects installed on your computer. Compatible plugins will automatically appear in the Effects browser under Plugins.
Where can I use plugins: in the desktop app or online?
Plugins can be added and edited in the downloadable Soundtrap desktop app. The processed audio will sync in real time, so collaborators can listen from the desktop app, web browser or mobile app.
Do my collaborators need to own the same plugins as me?
No. Collaborators can still hear the processed track and adjust its volume, pan or mute settings—even when they do not have the plugin installed.
Can collaborators use their own plugins in the same project?
Yes. Everyone can add to the project using the plugins installed on their own computer. Other collaborators will still be able to hear those tracks without owning the same plugins.
Can we edit the same plugin together?
Yes. When everyone has the same plugin installed, collaborators can open it, adjust its settings and see changes appear in real time.
What happens when I need to edit a track containing a plugin I don’t own?
You can duplicate the track without the plugin and edit the duplicate. You can also remove the plugin from the original track.
