I’m hoping to integrate Soundtrap into my podcast journalism elective for students and ran into an issue while learning the platform. The “import file” feature on iPadOS or the Soundtrap web client through Safari is unresponsive when trying to add recordings from other sources (such as a 1-minute .m4a file saved to Files from Voice Memos).
When using the “import file” in either platform on a new track, I reach the “Select files to import” screen with the “Choose files” button, I select “Choose files” from the three options listed, I navigate to the desired audio file that is stored on the iPad, select the desired file….and then I’m back at the “Select files to import” screen with the “Choose files” button. I am not taken to the track with audio file on the timeline as show in this tutorial video from 2020.
I’ve confirmed that this behavior happens through both the Soundtrap Studio app and the Soundtrap.com web client through Safari on the iPad. Deleting and re-installing Soundtrap Studio did not resolve the issue.
We’re an iPad-based school where each student is required to have an iPad for coursework, and this is the only device I can expect them to have access to both on and off campus if they wish to take their work home with them to work on it there, so this functionality is pivotal to use on an iPad.
Below is technical information of what I’m using that may be helpful in troubleshooting:
-iPad Air (3rd Generation)
-Sountrap Studio app version 3.1.5
Thanks to anyone that may be able to help.
