Does Anyone Know How To Make Guitars Sound Heavier & More Raw?
Hello Fellow Soundtrap Musicians!,
I'm an artist who specifically dabbles in the hard rock field of music and I just have a question for all of you to which I hope you can provide sufficient answers. For the longest time of using Soundtrap and researching through other external sources, I have never found any way of making my guitar tracks sound very heavy and able to give a song a total headbanging punch. To make it easier for all of you to understand what kind of sound I'm looking for, I am specifically and only looking for a sound that sounds just like or at least close to a past guitarist of Marilyn Manson and many of others, John 5. I highly recommend any of you to listen to Marilyn Manson's album "Holywood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)" that was released in 2000 and focus specifically on the guitar sound, it is very unique and has a "one of a kind" sound. Thank you to all that respond and I greatly appreciate it if you could also provide the exact settings, positioning of effects + compressors/equalizers used and pedals you used to achieve this sound. Also, please check out my post in how to make drums sound more raw, punchy and garage-like!
Thanks Fellow Musicians!,

Hey! I don't know this particular sound but they likely use a few distortion effects (overdrive, gain, fuzz) and then after the music is finished the tracks may be compressed and turned up in other ways. You can experiment with the built-in effects on a guitar track and see if you can get close, but it may be hard to do with with software only versus the actual pedals they are likely using. Sorry I don't have the time to listen to the tracks or go into more details, but start with gain/overdrive, then throw that into distortion and then compress that sound. The order matters.
