Hey David! Thanks for the feature request. I have passed on your suggestion to our studio team. Stay tuned for more updates!

One of the main selling points I was given as a teacher for Soundtrap was that it is supposedly compatible on all devices, which is important for a school community with limited resources. It was very disappointing to find out AFTER giving my students an assignment, and only after doing extensive research after receiving perplexing student inquiries, that the Patterns Beatmaker tool is not available for iPads or phones. At the very least, there should be some prominent warnings to teachers regarding the fact that not all functions are available on all devices. Aside from the "walled garden" feature, I don't readily see any other features in the educational version that are actually designed for an educational environment. I have been creating all of my own lesson plans and assignments based on what I perceive as being available on the app from my end--but I use a desktop computer. Am I missing something?

Thanks Harry - agreed 100%.  Soundtrap needs to clear this up.  I'm having the same problem; it's unclear which features are available on the iOS app vs Chorme on MacBook.  This is a big problem when it comes to lesson planning.  If nothing else, we need Beatmaker on the app.

Soundtrap, has their been any update on this other than being sent to the team?  Most of my students are on iPhones and without the Patterns Beatmaker and Piano Roll, it's going to be a hard sell to switch them from GarageBand.

This is really frustrating for students to not be able to use the beatmaker on soundtrap. As many others have said, this was something that was sold to us when trying to use soundtrap. It has been frustrating trying to navigate for students who only have Ipads and iphones.

Hi, another educator here echoing the same frustration about BeatMaker not being available on iPads. There are so many other DAWs which have something similar available on iPads, but Soundtrap doesn't. Why?

Btw, my husband (who is also a music teacher) is now teasing me for going "through the trouble" of getting Soundtrap when I could have just used Garage Band the whole time. He's been using Garage Band with his students and their creations are also pretty awesome.

Man, what the hell, so disappointing. All this time setting it up and convincing our partner program to pay for this find out through trial and error that it is totally crippled for the majority of students who only have access to tablets or phones!! Unacceptable. This is not new technology! There is no excuse. No midi editing?!! No effects on mic tracks? I just can't wrap my head around there is no midi editing on iPad! Two years ago this was brought up and there were already dozens of apps with midi editing five years ago and many before that!

Simply put, by refusing to add this simple feature for tablets, Soundtrap is DENYING ACCESS to lower-income students, and even more specifically, lower-income students with disabilities. Several of my students have tablets, devices that are overall more affordable and often state issued for online learning. Students with tablets are unable to use the Patterns BeatMaker feature and instead have to struggle with the drum kit view. While I know that auto-quantize is an option, my students are elementary schoolers and many of them have IEPs that make advanced technological concepts impossible from a remote learning perspective. Additionally, students with tablets are unable to import tracks, leaving them out of that feature as well. Accessibility in education is a very valuable thing! Please consider making a change to incorporate these things in all versions of the program, as I think it would open the door to many great learning opportunities for ALL students across the country.

    100% what Katia said!!!
I'm trying to reformat a music ed program that relied on kids using computers to include kids who might not have a computer, and it's really frustrating to learn that an app can go by the same name on multiple platforms and not feature all the same functionality.
