Time Signatures

Hello All,

 

I am loving Soundtrap! It is proving to be an excellent tool for teaching! However, one major flaw is that in a project one can only choose between 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures. I think it's really important, especially at GCSE and A-level for students to practise composing in a variety of time signatures and find this current mechanism quite restrictive. I would suggest a system like that of Ableton Live, where one can simply choose their time signature and the metronome/grids will adjust accordingly. This should also be accompanied with the ability to add time signature changes throughout the project, allowing for those wanting to include sections in other time signatures freely. Would love to see this happen! Who's with me?

  I agree. At my school we work a lot with 6/8, 5/4 and 7/8. It will also be nice to have the possibility to change the time signature during the song.

  Many artists use odd time signatures / changing time signatures as a compositional technique, there are even entire genres of music based around this.
