I am a vocal teacher at a middle school and I am struggling to make the following scenario work. With everyone home due to the pandemic and students not able to sing together, I wanted to see I could make the following scenario work for my 8th grade choir. We sing at graduation, and this would be uber special if I could get a recording of their song.
I want to provide my choir students with an accompaniment track as track 1 and then have them record themselves singing their vocal part into track 2. Basically, hit record, they hear track 1 "accompaniment" and the sing along to record the vocal part.
Can this be done? I have tried this myself to make sure I set it up correctly, but the vocal part is always delayed or "behind" I hear both parts in the mix, the 2 tracks are present on the screen, but the vocal part is behind.
I must be missing a step to sync them correctly.
I have tried to make this work so hopefully there is an easy solution.
Ultimately, I want to share with my choir students track 1 accompaniment and then they record themselves into track 2. I would take their vocal track, copy and paste it into one project so that all voices would be "singing" along with the accompaniment. Does all this make sense? Or do you have a better way of doing this?
