Hello, thanks for getting in touch! Please try these troubleshooting steps and then try to merge again:

If the merge option is still grayed out, kindly send us an email with a screenshot of the issue so we can check further. Let us know how it plays out :)

I also have this issue.  Very frustrating. Cannot get rid of time in between regions, or permanently delete parts of regions.  They come back like zombies when I pull the track.

I did all of the troubleshooting steps listed above.  Merge regions is still grayed out.

Here's the workaround that I found....

Export the track as .wav or .mp3 and then you can reimport the full track as one region back into Soundtrap

    or

Go to Settings>Merge Tracks>Select only the track that you want to Merge Tracks on and it will make a new track with all of the regions merged

The downside with both of these is that if you only want to Merge Regions for part of the track these options won't help

I am also having this problem. I can manage to work around it by exporting the track and importing the resulting file. This works, but is a cumbersome workflow for my students. I can also merge the single track, but that automatically removes the original track.

Hello Brian, thank you for your message.

Yes, for now, you're only able to use the Merge regions feature for MIDI tracks, but you can use the Merge tracks... feature for both audio and MIDI tracks. It really could be quite time-consuming, but we appreciate the helpful tip!

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to send an email our way :)

The problem with using Merge Track when you want to merge regions in a single track, is that when the track merges, all of the clicks are there from the space between the regions. So you end up with what you would have had if you had just played the original track with the gaps between regions.

What I ended up doing was making 2 tracks from the original single track. I alternated regions between the two tracks and used fade-in and fade-out to overlap the regions (because we can't crossfade between regions on a single track).

(To make sure all the regions were placed correctly, I first duplicated the track and then deleted every other region.)

This was a LOT more work than it should be.

Forgot this part: once you've overlapped the 2 tracks and there's no more clicking from the gaps, you can merge the 2 tracks into 1, which will (or should) save CPU time/effort on playback.
